After a new press was commissioned at Kind & Co. in January 2016 (see article Commissioning of a 3,000 ton forging press), it was only logical to replace the 25 t forging manipulator after 23 years of operation.
The 125 t manipulator (manufacturer company GLAMA Maschinenbau GmbH) was assembled in only 3 weeks over the turn of the year 2018/2019 and successfully put into operation at short notice.
The range of dimensions is thus significantly extended upwards, so that 28 t forging blocks up to a length of 5.5 m can now be forged. With 17.5 t ESR blocks, even 9 linear meters are possible. Significantly larger diameters are also forged.
The new manipulator is integrated into the control system of the forging press and can be operated fully automatically with the press hand in hand.
