To be able to guarantee plastic production on a most economical basis, the steel for the moulds must meet particularly demanding requirements, including, for example, polishability, etchability and, above all, the longest possible tool service times.

The most important factor is the purity of the tool steel. This is the property that gives the steel its mirror polishability. When producing car headlamp lenses, for example, the purity of the steel ensures the crystal-clear surface.
